The Jackson Glacier is designed to compete with big-box retailers' "traditional" figure skate look. As far as vinyl/leather/pvc skates go, this is the best skate around with those limited materials. However, a better bet is the Jackson Soft Skate, Riedell Soft Skate, or Jackson Softec line until the skater is ready for the Mystique or Riedell 15.
Overall, the Glacier model is best described as "a premium recreational skate."
